"Huli na ba ang lahat??"
When I was in my 2nd year in college my father had to work abroad. He had to be an OFW for 10 years. I told myself after I graduate I have to find a stable job so I can provide for my brother’s education para makauwi na sa Pinas dad ko.
Pero hindi pala ganon kadali yon…
I did volunteer nurse work sa isang public hospital. Literal na someone had to leave or die or malakas kapit mo sa loob before you get a job order from the government.
Until a friend told me sa call center malaki daw ang sweldo, and so I applied and got the job. Oh yes! It did pay well pero with inflation and expenses lumalaki pa rin gastos every year.
So I told myself, I need to be promoted.
Pero parang de ja vu kasi again with inflation and expenses tumataas pa rin lahat ng gastusin.
I realized it’s not about how big your salary is or how high your career position is. It’s how you handle your finances.
I tried different sorts of tactics to increase cash flow...
I tried all kinds of saving methods including the 52-week challenge…
I joined MLM...sabi kasi yung 1k ko gagawin niyang 10k.
Totoo naman I got 10k back pero I had to lose friends along the way…nagsara din yung mga companies na sinalihan ko… nabiktima ako ng PAWER!💪
I started my online retail store……pero maliit lang din profit.
When I was younger, sabak lang ako ng sabak.
Then I got curious about stock market investing…
Naging mix ako of a risk taker and at the same time calculated ung moves.
“Calculated Risk Taker” ata tawag don.
Kaya before I started investing in the stock market, I learned.
- I searched for a lot of free materials online.
- I binge-watch lahat ng free material online especially Youtube.
- Kaya I bought books, attended seminars and it was not easy.
Ang dami kong hindi naintindihan. Wala din naman ako mapagtanungan.
All my friends were either skeptical about what stock investing is and didn’t have an interest in learning it.
Dumating sa point na ginawa kong “parang bank” ung portfolio ko sa COL Financial, then I even opened a different broker for trading.
Nung high time sa market last January 2018 halos umabot ng 34% gain ung isa kong stock. 😱😱😱
Imagine that...tapos may full time job pa ako. Kumita siya ng hindi ko kailangan bantayan.
and kahit nagpandemic, there were opportunities pa rin to earn passive income.
Ayun, sobrang sarap lang sa pakiramdam.
With that I learned 3 👌 things:
- It's not too late to invest even in your 30s. It's a best case scenario kung natutunan ko ito noong mas bata pa ako. Pero hindi ko naman pinagsisihan na I was able to travel in 20 provinces in my 20s.
- Do not let failure define your future. Maybe like me, you've read investing books, watched videos, gone to seminars but still felt like I failed. But if I let my past failures define my future, it would not have led me to writing this and sharing my story with you.
- Preparation meets opportunity. I was blessed to start and invest while the market was down and the Philippine stock market was starting to form an uptrend. If you are reading this at a time when there is no opportunity yet, know that there is unlimited opportunity for you, all you need to do is prepare.
What about you what's your story? I would love it read it sa comment section below.
At kung hindi ka pa nagsisimulang mag-invest sa stock market, now is the time to prepare for that opportunity.
All the best,
Cristina "never give up'' Orlina
